Position: Analyst- Data and Analytics Specialist
Position Overview
The Analyst- Data and Analytics Specialist position is for the Data and Analytics Group within MRG. This group, also known as the 'Quant Team', is responsible for providing analytical support to a variety of MRG product lines including Marketrack (a med-tech device usage tracking product) and Perception Pulse (a customer loyalty tracking product). The Quant Team is a new and rapidly growing group, and the incumbent will be exposed to a variety of challenges. We consider our Quant Analysts to be internal consultants, and the incumbent will be responsible for participating in and leading exciting interdepartmental engagements, liaising with internal clients to implement statistical and quantitative methodologies across multiple projects. There may be some opportunity to present analytical methodologies to MRG's high-profile external clients as well.
Primary Responsibilities
Duties of an MRG Analyst (Data and Analytics Specialist) include, but are not limited to:
- Performing regular and ad hoc analyses in a timely and rigorous fashion for both internal and external clients.
- Researching, developing, implementing, and ultimately maintaining best practices and standards relating to analytical methodologies across multiple projects and product lines.
- Staying up-to-date with quantitative research techniques.
- Coordinating technical requirements for a variety of data storage/manipulation media including Access/SQL databases, SPSS workbooks, MS Excel spreadsheets, and others.
- Maintaining an understanding of important trends and data points in multiple projects.
- Providing statistical expertise to internal initiatives.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Undergraduate degree with a proven record of academic success and a history of accomplishments.
- Engineering, Statistics, or Computer Science majors preferred.
- Business or quantitative health-related majors with solid technical and quantitative courses and/or experience will also be considered
- 0-2 years of professional experience in an analytical/quantitative research role.
- Summer, co-op, and part-time experiences will be considered.
- Advanced analytical skills in Excel (required).
- Knowledge of relational databases (required).
- Experience with MS Access and/or SQL (preferred)
- Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, Minitab, etc. (preferred)
- Must be very comfortable with descriptive and inferential statistical techniques (required)
- Experience with any of the following: Monte Carlo simulation, regression analysis, forecasting, conjoint analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, DOE, sampling methodologies.
- Above-average written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate complex quantitative ideas to internal and external clients at all levels of seniority.
- Demonstrated success in working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for quantitative and qualitative anomalies
- Proven project management experience an asset.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize items effectively
- Must be able to tackle a variety of incoming tasks ranging in timelines from short-term (a few hours) to long-term (several weeks/months).
- General knowledge of process improvement methodologies an asset.
